A typical day as a travel writer
I write for various travel based websites on a regular basis including an airline information site, a German website, a travel review site and submit travel stories to a BC website and an award winning site in South Deerfield, MA.
I wish I could say I make enough money writing about travel so that I don’t have to work elsewhere but that’s not true, yet.
I spend the time off from my other job searching for freelance writing jobs and my favourite site to check out is what a surprise - Freelance Writing Jobs. Deb updates weekdays with great leads for jobs and offers valuable tips in between. Then I submit queries until I can’t submit anymore.
I have set projects to work on throughout the day as well as to keep tabs on my own household and personal errands. I sometimes get sidetracked for hours, sometimes it seems like days, and then I wander on back to what I should be doing. Then I start round two and wander off looking for press trips, plannning imaginary trips, you know, that kind of useful stuff.
So in other words, I rarely eat, I rarely show up for anything on time and I am constantly drifting astray. But after reading many successful author bios, I believe I am totally on the right track.
