Northwest Airlines Plays ‘Tag, You’re It” with A330s
With a wingspan of almost 198 feet (60 metres), I guess you need a lot of room to park an Airbus A330 aircraft.
Today at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Aiport in Minnesota, a Northwest Airlines Airbus A330 had just landed and was taxing to it’s gate. Apparently while maneuvering into it’s parking spot doing that wide swooping turn, the aircraft clipped the wing of another Airbus A330 that was already parked at the gate. Oooo, not good.
I wonder if the pilot will get a ticket for that?! I know I would if I ”clipped” a car in the Target parking lot.
A Northwest Airlines spokesperson said there were no injuries to passengers nor crew and that the previously parked aircraft had no passengers onboard.
The spokesperson went on to say that there is damage to the wing tips of both aircrafts though the severity was not disclosed.
And that would have been a interested end to a flight…so as the pilot and crew wish the passengers well as they stepped off the plane, I hope they were met with a lot of “nice parking job, buddy” and “way to go”s.
