Airbus A-310 Crash Kills Half Onboard

On a flight from Amman, Jordan, government owned Sudan Airways had one of its Airbus A-310 aircraft veer off the runway causing the plane to catch on fire upon landing at the Khartoum airport in Sudan on Tuesday.

Investigators state that the plane, flying under poor weather conditions, had one if its engines explode and start on fire just after landing.

Emergency crews were immediately dispatched to the aircraft to help fight the blazing fire.  Al-Jazeera television reported that approximately half of the 203 passengers and 14 crew were killed during this most unfortunate accident.

It is noted that the country of Sudan has a history of aviation accidents including the death of its Defence Minister, its Lieutenant General, and many other high ranking military officers present on these flights.
