Chris Elliott Housekeeping Hell – Not!

Published by conniemotz at 5:37 am under Family, General, Travel Tips, USA Edit This

Okay, maybe I missed the point here – what was Chris Elliott trying to say? That hotel housekeeping is not a good thing?  Get real.

Chris ElliottChris tells us about a woman who is staying at a hotel.  She goes to a theme park in Orlando, Florida with her grandchildren and comes back to her hotel room only to find their hotel door propped open with a housekeeper inside.  So?!

Does he not understand that the housekeeper is doing her job? The door is propped open for benefit of the hotel guest, not the housekeeper.  An open door gives the appearance of security for the guest as in nothing can be stolen from your room.

Now let’s think of the open door concept from the view of the housekeeper – what security does she have?  With an open door, anyone can enter the room, not just the guest – now how safe is that?!

Chris goes on to mumble something about re-using hotel towels and how he thinks “besides saving the hotel money” it might “make a lot of sense.”  Seriously Chris, what is wrong with you? Of course it “makes a lot of sense”, duh.  Remember Chris, the environment is an important thing.

And you’re going to love this one – when thinking about re-using towels, Chris Elliott asks “What harm could come of asking a housekeeper for a few extra towels and giving her a few days off?”  Huh?  Are you okay Chris? Because I really don’t think you are.  So you’re going to ‘do your part’ by asking for extra towels and then in that way alone this will give the housekeeper a few days off from work?  I think there’s a God complex in there somewhere.

Hotel housekeeping staff are an integral part of a hotel stay.  I value their work just as I value everyone for their chosen, or sometimes not chosen, profession.  People are people are everyone deserves to  be treated with respect.  Who I am to judge otherwise?  Well, I’m certainly no Chris Elliott, thankfully.
