Airline Putting a Crash Ending to In-Flight Movies

Published by conniemotz at 5:37 am under Airlines, General, Travel News, USA Edit This

US AirwaysU. S. Airways is the fifth largest domestic airline worldwide and they’d like to stay that way.

In a bold move earlier this week, U. S. Airways announced they will be eliminating domestic in-flight movies on all their flights effective this November.

The cutting of movies is estimated to save the airline almost $10 million in fuel and additional costs such as paying for the first run movies and equipment.

I think this is a great idea but I think they could save even more if they looked at cutting the salaries of their top paid executives.  A report from 2006 shows that CEO of U.S. Airways, Doug Parker took home a estimated $4 million in salary, bonuses and stock options.    Maybe they should take away his Teevo, would that help?

Having said this, U.S. Airways has managed to maintain its six month holding in the top three USA airlines for on-time flight performance according to a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) report on July 7th, 2008.
