Flying through Teterboro? Read This First.
Two near misses at the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey have been reported during the past few weeks by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Due to miscommunication between tower controller and the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control (NYRAC), the first incident occurred when a Learjet was instructed to land on a closed runway. The aircraft flew dangerously close to two unsuspecting employees working on the runway.
The second incident happened when a Cessna 172 and a Dessault Falcon 200 almost intersected on a runway. The landing Cessna was instructed to taxi onto a specific runway while the Falcon was cleared for takeoff on an intersecting runway – simultaneously. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report shows that the two aircraft were a mere 1,200 feet apart.
The NTSB continues to investigate both incidents at the Teterboro Airport.
