Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas Closes
Seeing over 3 million visitors and having originally opened at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel in 1998, Star Trek: The Experience, closed its doors two days ago.
A large crowd of ‘trekkies’ attended the attraction for the last time on Monday, September 1, 2008. For just under $50, fans could ‘experience’ two virtual rides, a museum housing two hundred Star Trek memorabilia items and they could even eat at Quarks Bar & Restaurant.
Declining attendance and an apparent dispute between the attractions owners, Cedar Fair Entertainment, and the landlords, the Las Vegas Hilton, could not be resolved.
It is not clear as to what will happen to the various props and items used in the ‘experience’; many die-hard fans are hoping that they will be for sale to the general public.
