Travel & Leisure magazine along with CNN Headline News took a poll of 600,000 U.S. citizens in its recent survey to determine the rankings for 2008 America’s Favourite Cities.

Survey categories included people, the type of trip being taken, nightlife, culture, shopping, food & dining, holiday travel, and general quality of life & visitor experience in each of the top 25 U.S.A. cities that were chosen to participate.

According to the poll, Austin, TX, has been voted the #1 city when it comes to people for their friendly, attractive, intelligent, athletic, diverse and stylish citizens.

The #1 city chosen for its variety of culture – including classical music, live music, theater, museums & galleries, and historical sites – is none other than New York City, NY.

Las Vegas was voted the #1 city for nightlife while New York took the title again for best overall shopping.  The best food & dining experiences in the country are said to be had in New Orleans while the best holiday destination in the USA is Honolulu, HI.
