Another Qantas Emergency Landing
303 passengers and 10 crew members onboard Qantas (QF) flight 72 were enroute this morning from Singapore to Perth, Australia, when they were forced to make an emergency landing at a small airport 800 miles north.
Only ½ hour before the flight was due to land in Perth, the Airbus A330-300 aircraft experienced severe turbulence. 36 passengers were injured and 12 were immediately taken to hospital upon landing with broken bones, cuts and bruises. The majority of the injured passengers were seated at the rear of the plane. The Australian Transportation Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating.
In the past few months, Qantas has experience a series of emergency landings caused by such mishaps as an exploding oxygen canister, landing doors that failed to close, and a hydraulic fluid leak.
Qantas has a partnership with OneWorld, a globe airline alliance, which covers 675 destinations in 130 countries worldwide.
