Delta & Northwest Fees Changing
We all knew this was coming. Since its merger with Northwest Airlines earlier this week, Delta Airlines has announced a new fee structure for many of its services. Let’s take a look.
- Elimination of fuel surcharges on SkyMiles and WorldPerks award tickets which will result in a $25-100 savings for passengers
- The fee for regular passenger or rewards tickets purchased over the phone directly with a Delta representative will be reduced from $25 to $20
- Effective December 5th, 2008, the curbside check-in administration fee of $3 will be eliminated which means passengers will no longer incur an administrative fee for checking bags via the skycap service
- Effective immediately, for travel on or after December 5th, 2008, travelers flying within the United States will be charged a $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second checked bag
- Customers who purchased a ticket from Delta on or before November 5th, 2008, and who are travelling on or after December 5th, 2008, will be permitted to check their first bag at no charge however a second bag will incur a $50 fee
