We all knew this was coming.  Since its merger with Northwest Airlines earlier this week, Delta Airlines has announced a new fee structure for many of its services.  Let’s take a look.

• Elimination of fuel surcharges on SkyMiles and WorldPerks award tickets which will result in a $25-100 savings for passengers
• The fee for regular passenger or rewards tickets purchased over the phone directly with a Delta representative will be reduced from $25 to $20
• Effective December 5^th, 2008, the curbside check-in administration fee of $3 will be eliminated which means passengers will no longer incur an administrative fee for checking bags via the skycap service
• Effective immediately, for travel on or after December 5^th, 2008, travelers flying within the United States will be charged a $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second checked bag
• Customers who purchased a ticket from Delta on or before November 5^th, 2008, and who are travelling on or after December 5th, 2008, will be permitted to check their first bag at no charge however a second bag will incur a $50 fee
