Storm Watching at Wickaninnish Inn
Storm watching season is upon us once again and there’s no better place to watch than the Wickaninnish Inn, Tofino, British Columbia (BC), on Vancouver Island.
Dating back to the late 18th century, the meaning of Wickaninnish is said to be ‘having no one in front of him in the canoe’ in the Nootka language. For anyone lucky enough to live in BC, Wickaninnish simply means ‘storm watching’.
Perched upon a rock cliff that juts out into the Pacific Ocean, the Wickaninnish Inn offers spectacular views all around. The authentic west coast architecture and décor is so warm and inviting for guests - especially when it’s storming outside.
The 20-foot-tall windows in the lobby offer amazing views but that’s nothing compared to the floor-to-ceiling windows that each of the 75 rooms or suites has to offer. There’s truly not a bad view in the house.Enjoy the lounge, restaurant, café, or activities like beachcombing along Chesterman beach, nature walks, but whatever you do, don’t forget your camera.
The Ancient Cedars Spa was voted the #1 Hotel Spa in the Continental U.S. and Canada by readers of Travel & Leisure magazine. So you might not want to miss this either.
Travel & Leisure also voted the Inn to be the #5 hotel in the U.S. and Canada and #1 in Canada. For the months of November and December, the Wickaninnish Inn is offering $200 off their ‘Storm Watching Escape’. For reservations and more information, call 1-800-333-4604.
