2009 Dirtiest Hotels in the World – Not for the Squeamish!
Recently TripAdvisor announced their list of the 2009 Dirtiest Hotels in the World as compiled by the readers and participants of their website.
The details are not for the squeamish but it’s almost like peeking through your hands at a horror movie, isn’t it? We want to know what happens but only within safe limits.
So as TripAdvisor put it, are you “ready to be grossed out?” Here are some of the words used to describe the Top 10 Dirtiest Hotels in the USA – “discover new diseases,” “bugs crawling,” “smells of urine,”“hell hole,” “scabies,”“hotel of horror,” “blood stains” and “yellow-stained pillow cases.”
The Top 10 Dirtiest Hotels in the USA are:
- Hotel Carter, New York City, NY
- Continental Bayside Hotel, Miami Beach, FL
- New York Inn, New York City, NY
- Eden Roc Motel, Wildwood, NJ
- Days Inn Cleveland Airport, Brook Park, OH
- Days Inn Airport/Stadium, Tampa, FL
- Travelodge Bangor, Bangor, ME
- Velda Rose Resort Hotel, Hot Springs, AR
- Ramada Plaza Hotel JFK International Airport, Jamaica, NY
- Days Inn & Suites Gatlinburg, Gatlinburg, TN

Well I’m sure all these hotels have earned their places on this list, but I bet none of them can hold a candle to ANY hotel in Kazakhstan.
Tell me more, Dullahan. I’ve never been to Kazakhstan…..
Connie, I wrote a post about this report, too. (Mine is scheduled to post on Friday, March 6th).
I used to work in a resort, so I just don’t understand how hotel owners can ignore this many obvious complaints and problems and I also don’t understand travelers who don’t check up on reviews before booking! (If it’s in their control, of course.) Reading some of those reviews really does make one’s stomach turn sometimes!
OMG! The water runs orange out of the faucet in the hallway and the bugs get mad at you for taking up the space on your cot. Or else they’re really hungry and you’re the best meal they’ve seen in ages.
Ralph Peters provides all kinds of great descriptions in his book, “Looking for Trouble”.
